Psychic Ills’ first album came out in 2006. This hypnotic, astral travelling track called Mantis, is off their 2009 album, Mirror Eye. The sound is so immersive you can almost get sidetracked from the awesome video that goes with it, so simple and effective. Close your eyes and go with it man. Just make sure you turn it up loud to catch that warbling synth on your antennas as you turn into an insect. Doesn’t hurt to leave this baby on repeat a few times either.

Riverside by Bent Wind. The Canadian based band recorded and produced their first record in 1969. They did a good job, nice tape hiss coming through, dusty yet warm tones. This is my favourite track from this album. Perfect in it’s simplicity. And the vocals are so rich, kicks ass over Jim Morrison. Also, keep an ear out for an unexpected bird call whistle solo, that’s the clincher!
Trip Thru Hell (Part 1) by C.A Quintet

It’s off the their début and only studio album with the same title “Trip Thru Hell” made in 1969. Yes there is a part 2 to this song, and the whole album is quite a stone. You can go to the YouTube listing of this video here and surf the other songs off this album listed down the side.
I just wish the chorus would never end…

A bloody nice psych ballad from 1969. The group disbanded in 1970 I believe. As far as I know, this track is from their only album Solid Oak. Couldn’t find any other tracks like this on their album though.
“Taurus The Voluptuary” by The Zodiac: Cosmic Sounds

The Zodiac: Cosmic Sounds was a concept born in 1967 by Jack Holzman, the head of Elektra Records. A number of artists got together and made this album as a collaborative concept album. There is a track for every star sign and all tracks are distinguished by rich spoken words which remind me of old Disney films. The whole album is a comfortable chiller that “must be listened to in the dark” as it states on the back of the album in large purple text. There’s a link to this and more songs off the album on YouTube here.
Dreamtime recording!

Our good friend, George Bennett is recording us and we’ve got Chris Campion (Nite Fields) to help us out with keys and guitar.
The rough mix is sounding epic, so expect something special in a couple months. In the meantime check out our fun times at the Bennett’s below. It was such a lovely environment to record in and think it’s gonna show on the record. Can’t wait for round two!
